We are currently partnered with a fast-growing AI company that builds next-generation agentic systems for professionals, helping them automate complex workflows and make better decisions faster. After being recently acquired by a global leader in software and information services, they are continuing to operate with a start-up mindset but with the resources and backing of a large, established tech organization. (Hybrid NYC)
They are looking for a Lead Software Engineer to own the end-to-end development of their generative AI products from ideation to launch, and play a key role in shaping their product vision and engineering culture.
Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end product development, own multi-month projects from ideation through launch, including testing, measurement, and iteration.
Design and build front-end applications using modern frameworks (Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS) with a focus on performance and scalability.
Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and backend teams to scope priorities, set timelines, and deliver high-impact features.
Champion UI/UX excellence, ensuring interfaces are intuitive, accessible, and polished.
Optimize system performance by identifying and resolving bottlenecks for speed and scalability.
Set team-wide standards, drive best practices in code quality, testing, and release processes.
Mentor and guide engineers, helping shape engineering culture and technical decision-making.
Qualifications
7+ years of experience building web applications at scale.
Strong proficiency with modern front-end frameworks and tools (Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind, or similar).
Demonstrated experience taking products or features from 0 → 1 (concept to launch).
Excellent debugging skills and an eye for performance optimization.
Strong product thinking, you care about design details and building experiences users love.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects and collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers.
Self-starter with a proactive approach to problem-solving and prioritization.
Nice-to-Haves
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, HCI, or related field.
Experience working in a startup or high-growth, fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with large language models (LLMs), AI agent design, or prompt engineering.
Experience building chatbot interfaces or AI-native products.
Comfort with front-end testing methodologies, A/B testing, and safe rollouts.
