Job Summary

The Global Sourcing Leader will support the development and execution of global sourcing strategies for electronic and mechanical components used in Assa Abloy Americas Residential’s Residential Electronic Locks, the fastest-growing segment of our business. This role involves sourcing electronic materials (e.g., PCBA assembly, semiconductor fabrication, keypads, touchscreens, wire harnesses) and mechanical components (e.g., die casting, stamping, packaging, injection molding). Working with cross-functional teams, the successful candidate will assist in supplier identification, development, and qualification to optimize sourcing in North America and Asia. The role requires knowledge of electronic and mechanical component manufacturing to support new product development and cost reduction initiatives. International travel to Asia (China, Taiwan, Korea, Thailand) and North America (U.S., Mexico, Canada) may be required. Please note this is a hybrid position. This person must be available to work onsite Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday. Will be remote Monday's and Friday's ONLY.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

Collaborate with Engineering and Marketing teams to support complex projects, assisting in the development of global sources for finished goods, electronic sub-assemblies, and mechanical components (e.g., die casting, stamping, packaging, injection molding) in North America and Asia. Help resolve technical or process issues during and post-launch.
Utilize Excel and data analysis to monitor and manage excess and obsolete (E&O) materials and implementing sourcing strategies to minimize liability and optimize working capital.
Lead cost improvement initiatives by analyzing supplier spend, market trends, and material cost drivers, resulting in strategic sourcing decisions and measurable year-over-year savings.
Support supply continuity by monitoring component lead times and coordinating with contract manufacturing (EMS) partners and strategic suppliers for electronic and mechanical components.
Assist in driving the supply base toward the lowest total cost of ownership, balancing cost, quality, delivery, and performance for electronic and mechanical components. Contribute to Next Generation Sourcing initiatives across category spend.
Support the development of sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives and product roadmaps. Participate in supplier selection, capability assessments, and quality improvements for electronic and mechanical component suppliers. Assist in negotiating supplier agreements to protect company assets and revenue.
Work with Hardware Engineering and contract manufacturers to address component issues, including End-of-Life (EOL) electronic components and obsolescence in mechanical components.
Support management of Bill of Materials (BOM) and associated costs for electronic and mechanical components. Assist in BOM reviews for PCB boards and mechanical assemblies, contributing to early-stage Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) calculations.
Handle RFI/RFQs, analyze quotes, and support negotiations with global suppliers for electronic and mechanical components.
Monitor and report supplier performance metrics and scorecards for electronic and mechanical supply bases.

Education And Experience Profile

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field with 3–5 years of experience in global strategic sourcing, focusing on category management or supply chain planning/design.
Alternatively, a bachelor’s degree in any field with 3–5 years of global strategic sourcing experience, including at least 1–2 years in sourcing electronics and/or mechanical components (e.g., die casting, stamping, packaging, injection molding).
Experience working with suppliers for electronic sub-assemblies or mechanical components, and familiarity with Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) or contract manufacturers.
Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or related certification (completed or in progress) is a plus.
Experience in supply chain operations is an advantage.

Required Skills

Component Lifecycle Management : Basic knowledge of assessing the health and sustainability of electronic components (e.g., connectors, integrated circuits, bare PCBs) and mechanical components (e.g., die-cast parts, stampings, injection-molded parts). Ability to support component recommendations during product development.
Component Engineering : Understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Testability (DFT) for electronic and mechanical components. Familiarity with manufacturing processes for electronics (e.g., PCBA assembly, semiconductor fabrication) and mechanical components (e.g., die casting, stamping, injection molding). Ability to assist in BOM management for integrated assemblies.
