Interim CFO (Contract) – Deep-Tech Startup | London (Hybrid)

A revolutionary deep-tech startup is seeking an exceptional Interim CFO to lead its finance function through a critical growth phase as it prepares for major product launches in 2026. This is a rare opportunity to step into a high-impact role within a closely held, founder-led organisation operating at the cutting edge of hardware, software, and intelligent-device innovation.

About the Company

This early-stage technology business is building a premium ecosystem technology products. With an ambitious vision to transform how people interact with information in the real world, the company designs, develops, and manufactures intelligent devices that combine advanced AI, cloud connectivity, and high-end product design.

The Role

The company is urgently seeking a highly capable Interim CFO to:

Take immediate ownership of the finance function
Lead business planning for a major product release
Build scalable financial models and guide commercial strategy
Oversee R&D tax credit claims and manage HMRC interactions
Optimise and stabilise financial operations (Xero)
Recruit and build an in-house finance team
Support complex and unconventional commercial projects, from acquisitions to property-related transactions

This mandate goes far beyond traditional finance leadership—requiring exceptional commercial judgement, operational focus, and comfort navigating complexity at speed.

Unique Requirement: Strong Family-Office / HNWI Experience

The company is ultimately owned through a trust structure and funded by high-net-worth sources.

Therefore, the successful candidate must have:

Significant experience operating within a family office or HNWI environment
Proven ability to manage confidential, sensitive, high-trust financial relationships
The judgement, discretion, and commercial maturity needed to work closely with successful founders and private stakeholders
A track record of navigating trusts, private ownership structures, and bespoke investment or acquisition opportunities

What You’ll Handle

High-level stakeholder management with private investors and trust structures
Evaluation and execution of “non-standard” commercial projects (e.g., property acquisitions, unique asset evaluations, alternative investment opportunities)
Detailed financial oversight for both corporate and owner-related initiatives
Rapid problem-solving and hands-on involvement in day-to-day operations

About You

Big Four background or equivalent “super-sharp” technical grounding
Not purely corporate—comfortable in fast-paced, ambiguous startup environments
Confident, commercially astute, and able to operate independently
Experience with acquisitions, particularly property and asset deals
Manufacturing knowledge helpful but not required
