Overview

A Junior Data Engineer helps build, maintain, and optimize data pipelines and storage solutions. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with data, solving technical problems, and learning modern data technologies. You will support senior data engineers and analysts to ensure data is clean, reliable, accessible, and ready for analytics, reporting, and machine-learning workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in developing and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines.

Support the design and implementation of data models and warehouse structures.

Collect, process, and transform structured and unstructured data.

Work with databases, cloud platforms, and data tools to ensure efficient storage and access.

Help monitor data flows and fix pipeline issues to maintain high data quality.

Collaborate with data analysts, engineers, and product teams to enable data-driven solutions.

Write scripts to automate repetitive tasks and improve workflows.

Contribute to documentation of datasets, pipelines, and processes.

Support implementation of data security, compliance, and governance best practices.

Requirements

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Foundational knowledge of SQL.

Experience with at least one programming language commonly used in data (e.g., Python, Java, Scala).

Basic understanding of ETL concepts and data modeling.

Familiarity with relational and/or NoSQL databases.

Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) is an asset.

Understanding of version control tools (e.g., Git).

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Willingness to learn new tools and techniques.
