We are looking to hire a Senior Manager, Operational Risk Management (“ORM”) Advisory, on our fast-moving, hard-working, and fun operational risk management team! Serving as both an effective challenger and a trusted advisor, Operational Risk Advisors (“ORAs”) are integrated into multiple dimensions of first line risk identification and mitigation activities. As an ORA supporting Capital One Bank (Canada Branch) (“the Branch”), your role will require excellent communication, interpersonal and influence skills, superb integrative thinking across the facets of operational risk, and a desire to help the Canada Card business, Senior Leadership Team, and the Canada Chief Risk Officer to appropriately manage operational risks applicable to the Branch..

About The Role

In this role, you will provide second line risk advisory and challenge to the Canada Card business, with significant interaction with First and Second Line of Defense stakeholders in both Canada and the Enterprise. The successful candidate will lead the collaboration with Enterprise ORM partners (business continuity management, scenario analysis, reporting, testing, third party risk management, etc.) and Second Line risk partners (technology and cyber risk management, Enterprise data management) to ensure holistic adherence with local regulatory expectations outlined in OSFI Guideline E-21 - Operational Risk Management, while balancing alignment with Capital One’s ORM program requirements.

Your Responsibilities:

Provide advice and challenge to the first line’s risk-taking and risk assessment activities (e.g. risk and control self-assessments, process level assessments, product risk assessments, new products/initiatives governance process) based on analysis of the business risk profile, control environment, and internal / external events.
Consult with Canada Card partners on projects, new initiatives, business objectives, processes, risk events, controls, and monitoring.
Evaluate the Canada Card business’ operational risk profile and prepare periodic internal risk reports including the Divisional Operational Risk Reporting, Canada risk profile, etc.
Work across the multiple operational risk programs and understand how they impact Canada Card.
Influence and collaborate with leaders within Canada Card, ORM, Compliance, Third Party Risk Management, Technology Risk Management, Enterprise Data Management on key operational risks and actions needed.
Working with first and second Line stakeholders to lead initial operational risk impact assessments driven by regulatory changes.
Develop risk analysis, perform deep dive investigations, drive specific risk initiatives, and present to Canada senior management as necessary.
Ensure that operational risk activities in Canada Card are aligned with enterprise program requirements and local regulatory expectations.
Support the business in the development of strong controls and a highly effective control environment.

Basic Qualifications:

10+ years of experience working in a regulated financial services organization, with solid knowledge of retail banking/credit card operations (shared services/channels and Corporate Functions).
10+ years of risk management and/or compliance experience.
10+ years of experience working in a complex operational environment.
Knowledge of Canadian operational risk-related regulator expectations (applicable OSFI Guidelines) and risk management practices and principles.
Knowledge of ISO 31000 and COSO ERM framework.
Experience in preparing and writing business documents (e.g. presentations for leadership meetings or forums, briefing memos, or policy write-ups).
Experience in governance, risk management, and compliance practices (e.g. risk identification, controls management, assessment, and reporting).
Strong communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
The ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects and deliverables.
Ability to manage well under pressure and tight deadlines; works well with changing priorities in a dynamic small team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree
1+ year of experience using Google Suite of products (Slides, Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Forms, Drive, Sites)
Additional relevant certification or accreditation in Compliance, Risk Management, or other related fields.
