Data Analyst – Grid Modernization & Analytics
Contract Term: 12 months, renewable
Location: Hybrid, 3 Days Remote/ 2 Days In-office (Vaughan, Ontario)
Hours: 35 per week
Rate: Negotiable
Our Utilities client is one of Ontario’s leading energy providers, committed to building a smarter, more sustainable future. Their Grid Analytics & Data Modernization team is driving innovation across the Asset Strategy & Operations (ASO) division—transforming how data powers decision-making, system planning, and operational excellence.

What You’ll Do
As a Data Analyst, you’ll be at the intersection of technology, strategy, and operations—helping to shape the future of grid modernization. Your work will directly support the deployment of advanced analytics platforms and tools that improve reliability, efficiency, and insight across the organization.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Documenting and consolidating business, functional, and non-functional requirements for critical platforms like Integrated Network Management (INM) and Planning Tools & Analytics (PT&A).
Collaborating with vendors and internal stakeholders to execute strategic Grid Modernization initiatives.
Supporting cross-functional teams—including Operations, Planning, Asset Management, Field Services, and Control Rooms—to ensure solutions are aligned with operational needs.
Maintaining and enhancing in-house analytics tools to ensure reliability, scalability, and performance.
Preparing bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
Communicating insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Completing assigned tasks accurately and on time, contributing to the overall success of the ASO team.
What You Bring
We’re seeking a data-driven problem solver with a passion for innovation and a strong foundation in analytics and utilities.
Core Skills & Qualifications:
Proficiency in Python, R, and SQL for data analysis and automation.
Experience with data visualization and presentment tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, and SQL.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and optimize analytical systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
Effective presentation and documentation skills tailored to technical and business audiences.
Collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently when needed.
Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to emerging technologies and tools.
Bonus Points For:
Understanding of electrical distribution systems and power distribution concepts.
Familiarity with utility software such as ADMS, SCADA, DMS, GIS.
Knowledge of Ontario’s utility sector and its key stakeholders.
Solid grasp of Windows 10 and MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
