Vanderbilt University is conducting a search for multiple Assistant Professors (tenure track) in computer science or its intersection with psychological, informatics, or biological fields. The faculty will be part of Vanderbilt’s new College of Connected Computing, housing computer science, data science, and working collaboratively on unique questions at the intersection of computing with other disciplines to advance breakthrough discoveries, with the possibility for secondary and joint appointments.

This Is An Open Search For All Areas Of Computational Research. Areas We Have a Particular Interest Are Especially Encouraged To Apply

AI (e.g., multi-modal learning, robotics, natural language processing, applied machine learning, reinforcement learning, safety & ethics, agent/reasoning models),
Computational Psychology (e.g., computation for cognitive, social, clinical, affective, or developmental psychology; psychometrics; computational linguistics; computational neuroscience), and
Computational Biology (e.g., genomics, proteomics, informatics, systems biology, evolutionary computation, wearables or digital health, other computational biology).

Vanderbilt University is a private university located on 330 park-like acres on the western edge of downtown Nashville, Tennessee. Nashville is a regional center for culture and technology which has been growing alongside the University since Vanderbilt’s opening 150 years ago, in 1875.

Qualifications

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in computer science, psychology, biology (or a related field such as statistics, data science, communications, or neuroscience). Candidates must have a research program with a strong record of peer-reviewed publication using advanced computational methods (such as computational modeling, machine learning, AI, or algorithm development). Candidates should also have a track record of contributing to multidisciplinary and/or multi-institutional collaborative research projects. Teaching in the College of Connected Computing is a component of this position.
