Job Description

Site: Toronto General Hospital

Department: Vascular & Cardiovascular Surgery-4AW PMB

Reports to: Nurse Manager

Wage Range: $40.24 - $57.68 per hour. (Start rate in accordance with collective agreement)

Hours: 37.5 Hours per Week

Shifts: 12 Hour Shifts, D/N Rotation, Alternative Weekends

Status: Temporary Full-Time (End Date ~ November 13, 2027)

Closing Date: December 4, 2025

Position Summary

As a member multi-disciplinary Team, the Registered Nurse practices in accordance with relevant legislation/standards, the UHN Professional Practice Model and the mission and vision of nursing at the UHN to provide compassionate, collaborative and competent care, while meeting the legal and ethical requirements of the profession.

Duties

Applying knowledge of nursing science, theory, skill and critical decision making in the provision of compassionate, collaborative and competent care in accordance with the UHN Professional Practice Model for Nursing and the mission and vision of nursing at the UHN.
Ensuring practice is consistent with professional standards and the ethical framework as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario and the UHN policy and procedure.
Demonstrating commitment to professional life long learning by participating in continuing education activities to meet the needs of the patient population served and the standards of the profession.
Performing reflective practice, analyzing and evaluating nursing knowledge and modifying practice accordingly to improve the quality of nursing and patient care.
Performing cross-functional and other responsibilities, as assigned and/or requested.

Qualifications

Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario required
Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification required
Minimum one (1) year Cardiac Surgery experience
Minimum one (1) year experience in Cardiac Monitoring including pacemaker management and arrhythmia identification and interpretation
Demonstrated evidence of ongoing education in cardiac nursing and involvement in professional associations
Excellent team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
Must be flexible and posses the ability to work effectively within a variety of patient care teams
Excellent organization and time management skills
B.Sc.N preferred
