Software Engineer – Media Platforms & Shared Services | Hybrid in Glendale/Burbank, CA | W2-Only Contract

Optomi, in partnership with a major global entertainment studio, is seeking a Software Engineer for a hybrid role based in the Glendale/Burbank area. This engineer will support the Studio’s media platforms, B2B applications, and shared backend services. This is a high-impact opportunity to build scalable, cloud-native systems—particularly in identity and access management (IAM), reusable REST APIs, and backend workflows powering the Studio’s content supply chain.

Experience of the right candidate:
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field or equivalent hands-on industry experience.
3-5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a focus on backend services and shared platforms.
Strong proficiency in TypeScript (preferred), Java, Kotlin, or JavaScript.
Experience designing, building, and maintaining RESTful APIs and secure, scalable backend applications.
Hands-on expertise with AWS serverless technologies including Lambda, API Gateway, and related services.
Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals, reliability, and maintainable code design.
Proven ability to work effectively in agile, cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with backend frameworks such as Node.js or Spring Boot.
Familiarity with Keycloak or other identity and access management (IAM) platforms.
Hands-on work with PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, or other relational/NoSQL databases.
Exposure to infrastructure-as-code and deployment tooling: AWS CDK, Terraform, Helm, Kubernetes, ArgoCD.
AWS or relevant cloud certifications.
Knowledge of frontend technologies including React, HTML, CSS, DOM.
Responsibilities of the right candidate:
Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable, high-quality software solutions for media platforms and B2B services.
Build and enhance shared services with a particular focus on IAM capabilities and reusable REST APIs.
Apply best practices for coding standards, security, reliability, and performance.
Collaborate closely with engineering teams, product owners, and security/infrastructure partners to ensure timely delivery.
Participate in agile ceremonies including sprint planning, estimation, and prioritization.
Contribute to continuous improvement and stay current with emerging technologies and engineering trends.
