RPG Analyst/Developer – Freelance (Public Services Sector)

A major organisation in the public services sector in Belgium is searching for an experienced RPG Analyst/Developer to join them on a long-term freelance mission in Brussels.

You will be part of a multidisciplinary IT team where you will design, build, test, and deliver RPG solutions on the IBM i / IBMi platform, supporting a range of ongoing and new internal initiatives.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain software applications on the IBM iSeries platform, writing RPG code for data processing, reporting, and core business logic.
Analyse business requirements and translate them into clear technical specifications aligned with stakeholder needs.
Create, adjust, and optimise SQL queries to ensure efficient database interactions and reliable data management.
Maintain and update existing RPG programs, including troubleshooting, performance optimisation, and implementing patches or enhancements.
Conduct thorough functional and technical testing to ensure solutions meet expected standards and business requirements.

Requirements

5+ years of hands-on experience as an RPG Developer.
Strong experience with IBM i / iSeries environments.
Ability to communicate effectively in English (French or Dutch is a plus but not required).
