These genres include Documentary programmes (such as Brianna and Georgia Harrison’s Deep Fake), Current Affairs shows (such as The Martin Lewis Money Shows and Tonight), Factual Entertainment shows (such as Come Dine With Me and For The Love Of Dogs) and Political programmes (such as the Prime Minister Debates and Peston).

The role..

We’re looking for a talented Business Affairs Manager to join ITV Studios’ Non-Scripted Business Affairs team on a 10-month fixed-term contract, covering a period of maternity leave. Reporting directly to the Head of Business Affairs, this role plays a pivotal part in supporting ITV Studios’ diverse portfolio of Non-Scripted productions. You’ll work hand-in-hand with creative and production teams across the full lifecycle of a project — from development through to delivery — ensuring deals are negotiated efficiently, risks are managed proactively, and ITV’s commercial and creative interests are fully protected.

Some of your key day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Negotiate and draft a wide range of commercial agreements, including talent, contributor, location, co-production, production and rights agreements for Non-Scripted productions.
Provide clear, pragmatic legal and commercial advice, particularly on copyright, rights, and clearance issues.
Work closely with Senior Business Affairs Managers, the Head of Business Affairs, and production teams to identify and resolve legal or rights-related challenges.
Collaborate with ITV’s wider Legal, Rights, and Finance teams to ensure deals are accurately documented and processed efficiently.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners, including broadcasters, co-producers, and talent representatives.
Review programme treatments and identify potential risks (e.g. contributor, privacy and rights issues), escalating as appropriate.
Keep the Head and Senior Business Affairs Managers fully briefed on key matters and contribute to consistent departmental approaches on policy and best practice.
Attend team meetings and contribute to discussions around production updates, departmental priorities and business objectives.
Use ITV’s contracting and rights management systems to manage deals, conduct tax assessments and maintain accurate records.
Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of contract templates and systems, including ITV’s new contract lifecycle management tools.
Ensure all deals align with ITV’s rights and commercial strategies, maintaining accurate data within company systems.
Handle contentious matters efficiently and escalate complex issues where necessary, representing ITV Studios professionally at all times.

Qualified lawyer (or recognised equivalent legal qualification) with a minimum of 4 years’ post-qualification experience (PQE), ideally gained within a television production, broadcasting or related media environment.
Strong knowledge and practical experience in intellectual property rights and data protection law.
Proven ability to negotiate and draft complex commercial agreements, demonstrating a thorough understanding of relevant legislation, commercial considerations and contractual detail.
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to apply sound legal and commercial judgment in a fast-paced production environment.
