ABOUT YOUR ROLE
We are seeking a Media Specialist to help drive the agency’s growing media relations function and elevate how our clients show up across the news cycle. This person will serve as a primary point of contact for journalists, editors, and producers, crafting pitches, responding to inbound press interest, and identifying high value story opportunities for our clients.
Beyond managing ongoing media outreach, this role will contribute to narrative development, pitch strategy, media materials, and proactive monitoring of trends that keep Jack Taylor and our clients top of mind. You’ll help strengthen our editorial positioning, refine our pitch tools and calendars, and ensure our media efforts operate with consistency, creativity, and speed.
This individual will work closely with account teams and junior staff to move opportunities forward, whether that’s shaping a feature idea, preparing a rapid response pitch, or ensuring timely follow-up with key reporters. You’ll play a central role in maintaining momentum across the media pipeline and amplifying the agency’s reputation for strong, strategic storytelling.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead and guide teams, including junior staff, to execute PR plans across events, announcements, and media-relations campaigns.
Secure high-quality media coverage across print, broadcast, online, and social platforms.
Land feature stories, executive profiles, and brand spotlights in top-tier outlets and podcasts.
Develop compelling pitches and identify timely story angles to keep client news active in the media cycle.
Conduct ongoing industry and competitive research to surface new narratives, trend insights, and story opportunities.
Build and maintain strong relationships with influential journalists, editors, and producers to expand coverage opportunities.
Manage inbound media inquiries and coordinate timely, on-message responses with account teams.
Collaborate closely with account teams to ensure alignment on messaging, storytelling, and strategic outreach.
Support and train junior team members through hands-on guidance, media-relations workshops, and lunch-and-learn sessions.
Develop and maintain tools that strengthen the agency’s media function.
Attend industry and networking events to cultivate new media relationships and expand the agency’s editorial reach.
QUALIFICATIONS
3–5 years of experience in PR, communications, or media relations, preferably within an agency environment.
Proven track record of securing coverage across top-tier print, online, broadcast, and podcast outlets.
Strong relationships with key journalists, editors, and producers across consumer, health, wellness, and/or lifestyle sectors (or demonstrated ability to build them quickly).
Exceptional writing skills with the ability to craft compelling pitches, narratives, and media materials.
Strong news judgment and an ability to identify trends, timely angles, and cultural moments worth leveraging.
Confident, strategic communicator with experience presenting ideas to clients and internal teams.
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple deadlines, pitch calendars, and priorities simultaneously.
Experience mentoring or supporting junior team members a plus.
Proactive, resourceful, and creatively driven—comfortable taking initiative and owning a lane of the media function.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth, collaborative agency environment.
