Location - London or Manchester (2 days a week onsite)
Duration - 12 months
Rate - £675 daily (inside IR35)
About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced Site Reliability Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team working on a high-impact national data platform. This is an opportunity to help shape and deliver a modern, reliable data hub that supports millions of users and drives innovation across the public sector.
You'll play a key role in designing and implementing infrastructure, ensuring systems are secure, scalable, and resilient. This role combines hands-on technical work with strategic thinking and technical leadership-ideal for someone who takes pride in building robust environments that enable development and future growth.
What You'll Do:
Design and implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation.
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for fast, reliable deployments.
Deploy observability tools to monitor and improve system performance.
Support large-scale production services and ensure platform availability and security.
Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to identify best technical approaches.
Share knowledge and foster a culture of learning within the team.
Essential Skills:
Strong proficiency in Python (Ruby desirable).
Deep understanding of Linux OS internals and containerization.
Experience with AWS services and cloud architecture.
Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
Knowledge of CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline).
Familiarity with Kubernetes, ECS, or serverless design (AWS Lambda).
Strong Git skills and understanding of security principles.
Experience providing technical leadership within a team.
Desirable:
Exposure to public sector or government projects.
Knowledge of additional infrastructure technologies (DNS, CDNs, load balancers).
