UX Researcher/Senior Product Designer (Contract – BI & Analytics)
Location: London/ Hybrid (2 days in the office)
⏳ Initial 3-month contract
£450-600pd Inside
Start: Mid-January
BCG building and scaling a SaaS analytics and risk reporting platform used by senior leaders through to frontline analysts. The platform supports high-stakes decision-making across cyber, compliance, finance, legal, and operations. We’re looking for a senior, research-led Product Designer with strong data visualisation and information architecture experience to support a critical phase of discovery and direction-setting within the BI & Analytics portfolio.
This is an initial 3-month engagement, focused heavily on research and clarity through ambiguity, with a strong likelihood of extension pending upcoming budget approvals.
What you’ll do:
Lead user research, persona definition, and use-case mapping for a complex analytics platform with multiple access levels and roles.
Bring structure and clarity to ambiguous requirements in an early-stage product environment.
Partner with BI teams to shape data visualisation experiences across tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Looker, Fabric, and Sigma.
Define Information Architecture for a scalable, “website-style” analytics portal housing multiple dashboards.
Work closely with the Product Owner, squad, and senior stakeholders to inform alerting, KPIs, and decision flows for Risk Owners.
Influence the buy vs build decision through strong research insights ahead of a mid-March milestone.
Provide light-touch product and UI direction around how dashboards are wrapped, personalised, and surfaced across user groups.
What we’re looking for:
Senior-level experience across UX Research + Product Design (research-heavy with light UI).
Strong background in SaaS products, particularly data-heavy or analytics platforms.
Essential: Hands-on experience with data visualisation and reporting products.
Deep expertise in Information Architecture, personas, and complex access models.
Comfortable operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
Confident managing difficult senior stakeholders and driving alignment.
Highly proficient with Figma and modern research/prototyping workflows.
Why this role matters:
This work directly influences how leaders across the organisation see risk, performance, and compliance and how quickly they can act on it. Your research will shape the future direction of the platform, including core tooling decisions.
