Job Overview

The GitHub Architect will own the design and governance of UST’s enterprise‑scale GitHub platform across organizations, teams, and repositories. The role focuses on defining GitHub Enterprise architecture, implementing robust DevSecOps and CI/CD patterns, and establishing standards, policies, and secure‑by‑default templates that scale across a large, regulated enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities

Design and maintain enterprise GitHub architecture across organizations, business units, teams, and repositories.
Define and enforce governance models, policy frameworks, and operating standards for GitHub usage.
Establish and maintain GHAS (GitHub Advanced Security) baselines and secure‑by‑default repository templates.
Design organization‑wide strategies for branch protection rules, CODEOWNERS, and repository compliance.

DevSecOps & CI/CD Architecture

Architect standardized CI/CD frameworks on GitHub Actions, including migration strategies from legacy CI/CD tools.
Design secure, reusable pipeline templates, shared runner strategies (GitHub‑hosted and self‑hosted), and environment promotion models.
Define artifact versioning, release governance, and DevSecOps controls embedded into the SDLC.

Operational Excellence & Scalability

Design repository scalability and performance standards, including Git LFS usage and monorepo vs multirepo strategies.
Drive platform reliability, security posture, and operational best practices across GitHub Enterprise.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (security, cloud, application, compliance) to ensure alignment with enterprise policies and regulatory needs.

Must‑Have Qualifications

Deep hands‑on experience with GitHub Enterprise administration and architecture.
Strong expertise in DevSecOps practices, pipeline security, and secure SDLC.
Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise‑grade CI/CD frameworks (GitHub Actions strongly preferred).
Strong knowledge of identity and access management, including SSO/SCIM integrations and RBAC models.
Experience working with audit, compliance, and governance requirements in regulated enterprise environments.
Strategic thinker with the ability to execute technically and influence stakeholders.
Excellent communication skills with experience producing architecture documentation and presenting to executives.
Demonstrated success operating in large‑scale, complex enterprise environments.

Preferred Certifications

GitHub Administration and/or GitHub Advanced Security certifications.
Cloud Architect certifications (Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Solutions Architect).
DevSecOps, Kubernetes, or Terraform certifications (nice to have).
