Job Description – Senior Back-End Software Engineer (Redacted Version)

As a Senior Back-End Software Engineer, you bring over 5 years of experience in designing and developing back-end software applications. Your responsibilities include:

Understanding functional designs based on functional specifications
Drawing up program structures based on technical designs
Creating and executing test cases, and modifying existing programs for production
Updating design documents with related changes
Conducting self and peer code reviews
Resolving assigned incidents and defects and following them through to closure
Performing technical integration testing of the application and its interfacing components

You have proven experience in software development and bring the following core competences: Agile methodologies, analytical thinking, collaboration, eagerness to learn, independence, problem solving, and a strong drive for results.

Detailed Job Description

We are seeking an experienced ServiceNow Software Engineer. As a key member of the ServiceNow team, you will help shape and automate core IT processes, including:

Asset & Configuration Management
Service Agreements & Release Management
Incident & Problem Management
Continuity & Operations Management
Expansion into areas such as Vulnerability Management and Pentesting

You will be central to designing solutions that improve the lives of IT colleagues by delivering intuitive, efficient, and purpose-fit tools.

Your Role

You will:

Analyze, design, and test process automations on the ServiceNow platform (development executed by the Global Competence Center)
Design and test integrations between ServiceNow (cloud) and other applications (on-prem and cloud), in collaboration with the API Gateway team
Translate business needs into technical designs that deliver clear value
Handle complex incidents and ensure smooth operations
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions
Focus on analysis, design, and problem-solving—note that scripting and programming are not part of this job

Who You Are

You have solid ServiceNow knowledge (minimum 5 years)
You have a technical foundation and strong analytical skills
You are fluent in Dutch and English
You are curious about IT infrastructure and eager to learn more
You are pragmatic, solution-oriented, and focused on fit-for-purpose outcomes
You understand JavaScript fundamentals or another programming language well enough to be comfortable with technical concepts
