Role Overview
The Senior IT Project Manager will provide end to end leadership for complex IT and digital health initiatives, from initiation through delivery. The role involves managing scope, timelines, governance, risks, and stakeholder engagement while producing high quality project materials for senior and executive decision makers.
Projects may include digital health service delivery, identity and access management, system modernization, health information integration, and improvements to provincial clinical and administrative systems.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management and Delivery
Lead planning, initiation, execution, and monitoring of multiple IT and digital health projects
Develop project charters, project plans, schedules, work breakdown structures, and scope statements
Manage project dependencies, resources, and deliverables to ensure alignment with timelines and budgets
Establish and maintain project governance structures including steering committees and working groups
Maintain core project artifacts such as RAID logs, work plans, dashboards, and status reports
Ensure alignment with ministry standards, enterprise architecture, and PMO frameworks
Stakeholder Engagement and Communication
Facilitate project meetings including agendas, materials, minutes, and action tracking
Build strong working relationships with internal teams, vendors, and health system stakeholders
Communicate progress, risks, and decisions clearly to sponsors and senior leadership
Identify and escalate risks or delivery challenges early with recommended mitigation strategies
Support change management and communication activities across impacted teams
Reporting and Governance
Produce executive level reports, presentations, and briefing materials
Monitor and report on project status, milestones, budget, and resource utilization
Maintain clear documentation of decisions, issues, actions, and changes
Conduct post project reviews and document lessons learned
Required Experience
Minimum 8 years of experience developing and delivering complex IT project plans and documentation
Minimum 5 years leading healthcare or digital health portfolios
Minimum 8 years working directly with cross functional technical and business teams
Minimum 8 years supporting stakeholder engagement across internal and external partners
Minimum 5 years of senior leadership experience defining project scope, goals, and deliverables
Strong experience with project governance and executive level reporting
Experience within the Canadian healthcare system is required. Familiarity with Alberta health stakeholders, providers, and regulatory environments is a strong asset.

Strong ability to translate complex business needs into clear technical and delivery plans
