About the Company
Our client is a well-established Belgian private equity fund investing in profitable SMEs across multiple sectors, primarily in Flanders with selected investments across Western Europe.
The fund provides both capital and hands-on operational support to its portfolio companies. To strengthen its value creation capabilities, it is recruiting a Portfolio Operations Director to drive transformation and operational performance across several participations.
Role Overview
As Portfolio Operations Director, you will play a key role in accelerating value creation across the portfolio.
You will work closely with CEOs and management teams, as well as with the investment professionals, to identify opportunities, execute strategic initiatives, and improve operational performance.
This is a transversal, high-impact role covering multiple companies and offering significant exposure and variety.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and implement value creation initiatives across several portfolio companies
Drive operational improvements (process optimisation, financial operations, organisational efficiency, digitalisation, commercial performance, etc.)
Support CEOs/CFOs/COOs in strategic and operational decision-making
Strengthen governance through KPIs, dashboards, and reporting structures
Prepare operational and performance analyses for boards and investment committees
Contribute to strategic projects such as post-merger integration, efficiency programmes, restructuring, or organisational redesign
Travel regularly to portfolio companies (mainly Flanders)
Ideal Profile
At least 10 years of experience in operational leadership, consulting, transformation, or value creation
Background may include:
Director/Manager roles in SMEs/ETIs
Strategy or operations consulting (McKinsey, BCG, Bain, Big 4, boutiques)
Operational excellence or transformation roles
Portfolio operations within private equity
Strong financial understanding (KPIs, business plans, dashboards)
Hands-on, pragmatic approach with strong project management skills
Able to build trust with entrepreneurs and challenge constructively
Fluent in Dutch and English; French is an advantage
Mature, autonomous, and an excellent communicator
