JOB DESCRIPTION: $68-$82/hr - 12 month contract w/ extensions - 4 days onsite in Toronto

Insight Global is seeking a data engineer to support the modernization of a enterprise data ecosystem by migrating from legacy SAP Business Warehouse to a unified data platform on Google Cloud (BigQuery). We need a hands-on Data Engineering Lead to drive the design, development, and optimization of data pipelines and models, ensuring high-quality, scalable solutions for analytics and reporting. This role is delivery-focused, leading engineers and collaborating with BI and SAP teams, not just defining architecture.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

8+ years of experience in data engineering on GCP (BigQuery, Dataflow, Composer).
Hands-on expertise in Python, SQL, and distributed processing (Spark).
Experience with SAP data extraction (BW, HANA, SLT) and ERP integration.
Proven ability to design and optimize data pipelines at scale.
Familiarity with data governance and security frameworks.
Leadership experience managing small engineering teams and offshore resources.

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Knowledge of Google Cortex Framework for SAP-GCP integration.
Experience with Looker, Power BI, and enterprise BI enablement.
Background in consumer products or manufacturing analytics.
