hackajob has partnered with a global technology and management consultancy, specializing in driving transformation across the financial services and energy industries, and we're looking for Security Engineers!

Role: Security Engineer

Location: New York, NY (hybrid 3x/week)

Rates: $55 to $75, depending on experience and type of contract (1099 or W2)

Qualifications:

+4 years of experience in security engineering
Hands-on experience with Network Security, Data Protection (Encryption and PKI), and Endpoint Security and monitoring

Responsibilities:

Build and operate defense-in-depth controls across OSI layers, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and network segmentation to reduce blast radius and contain incidents.
Implement and maintain PKI at scale, manage certificate lifecycles (issuance, rotation, expiry), and enforce encryption standards (TLS, AES, SHA) across networks, systems, and applications.
Configure and operate endpoint protection platforms (EDR/EPP), integrate endpoints with SIEM and monitoring tools, and lead investigations of suspected endpoint compromises.
Use network and endpoint telemetry to identify threats, investigate root causes, and drive remediation actions based on real incidents rather than theoretical scenarios.
Translate compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, PCI DSS) into concrete technical decisions that influence network design, encryption choices, logging, and access controls.
