About the Role
The Engineering Division is responsible for leading the design and development of new and existing product lines that meet customer requirements across global defence markets. The function drives innovation, technical excellence, and project delivery across complex, multi-stakeholder programmes, playing a critical role in managing complex NRE projects, integrating Design for Excellence (DfX) principles early in the product and design development cycle. The Head of Engineering is responsible and accountable for the management and overall performance of the Engineering Department. Leading the engineering function, from strategic planning to execution, to deliver innovative, reliable, and cost-effective solutions.
Key Objectives
Drive the engineering strategy to support the company’s growth, innovation, and operational efficiency.
Ensure that all engineering outputs (designs, specifications, processes, documentation) meet quality, safety, regulatory, and cost targets.
Oversee complex NRE and design projects, ensuring robust planning, technical oversight, and delivery against challenging requirements and timelines.
Foster a culture of innovation and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
Drive design optimisation to meet productivity, quality, and cost objectives.
Maintain high standards of safety, compliance, and sustainability in production practices.
Qualifications
Minimum 15+ years in engineering, 5 + years in leadership roles.
Demonstrated track record in overseeing complex engineering projects.
Proficient in DFMA, FMEA, and ERP/MRP systems.
Proficient in engineering and project management tools (e.g., MS Office, SolidWorks/CREO).
Strong data analytics and performance reporting capabilities.
Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making.
Effective multi-level communication.
Results-driven, with the ability to influence change.
Bachelor's or Master Degree in Engineering, desirable. Relative equivalent experience considered.
