Job Summary:

The Sales Operations Process Optimization Intern supports the Sales organization by analyzing, documenting, and improving sales operations workflows, data structures, and forecasting processes. This role focuses on mapping current-state workflows, identifying inefficiencies, designing standardized intake and handoff processes, and developing semi-automated forecasting tools to improve data accuracy and cross-functional alignment.

The intern will work closely with Sales, Program Management, Operations, Purchasing, Finance, and IT to support consistent opportunity tracking and improve the flow of information across Salesforce, Smartsheet, and Plex. This position is project-based and culminates in a formal 12-week capstone presentation to leadership.

Responsibilities:

Complete a structured 12-week sales operations optimization project with defined weekly deliverables.
Interview internal stakeholders across Sales, Program Management, Operations, Purchasing, Finance, and IT to document current-state workflows.
Map Salesforce → Smartsheet → Plex data flows and identify manual steps, errors, and rework points.
Document required opportunity data fields used by downstream teams.
Develop standardized sales intake, qualification, and handoff templates.
Redesign sales tracking Smartsheet to enforce consistent data entry and validation.
Assist in defining standardized opportunity stages, required fields, and role responsibilities.
Build a semi-automated forecasting workbook (Excel or Smartsheet) using formulas, pivot tables, and probability logic.
Create summary dashboards and visual reports to support forecasting and pipeline visibility.
Maintain regular status updates and communicate progress to mentors.
Prepare and deliver a final project presentation summarizing findings, improvements, and recommendations.
Adhere to federal and state regulations.
Adhere to all company policies, processes, and procedures.
Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
Predictable and reliable attendance.

Position Qualifications:

Undergraduate student (Sophomore–Senior) pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Business Analytics, Operations Management, Technical Sales, or a related field.
Must be actively enrolled in school.
Minimum GPA of 3.0 required.
Ability to work a minimum of 30 hours per week, up to 40 hours per week.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables and formulas), Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Preferred (not required): experience with process mapping, Smartsheet, Salesforce, or basic automation tools.
