About The Role
We are seeking a talented Software Developer with expertise in Python, SQL, and modern front-end frameworks such as Vue or React to join our Service Data Analytics Software team. This full-time position based in Derby offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the support and enhancement of submarine enterprise systems through innovative data analytics and software development.
The successful candidate will work within an Agile Scrum environment, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop applications that enable data-driven decision-making for our engineering and technical stakeholders. This role provides a unique chance to support national defense projects, gain insights into submarine operations, and develop cutting-edge software solutions that have a meaningful impact on maritime security.
Qualifications
Experience with Python, SQL, and front-end frameworks such as Vue or React.
Proficiency with contemporary software development tools, processes, and systems.
Understanding of version control systems, such as Git.
Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), preferably using Azure DevOps or similar platforms.
Strong communication skills to effectively engage with team members, stakeholders, and clients.
A degree in Computing, Mathematics, Scientific, Engineering disciplines, or equivalent practical experience.
Demonstrable software development expertise through a GitHub profile or similar portfolio is desirable.
Eligibility to obtain Security Check clearance and UK nationality or dual nationality as per MoD requirements.
Responsibilities
Collaborate within an Agile Scrum team to develop, test, and maintain software solutions aligned with project goals.
Design and implement engaging, user-friendly applications that meet stakeholder requirements.
Create data-driven software solutions to facilitate insights for engineers, technical experts, and clients.
Ensure high-quality code through rigorous testing, debugging, and code reviews.
Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives to promote continuous improvement.
Work closely with data specialists and software experts to optimize application usability and functionality.
Support the integration of software solutions with existing systems and infrastructure.
Maintain documentation and adhere to best practices for software development and deployment.
