Your Team Responsibilities

As a Cloud DevOps Engineer, you are a critical owner of our cloud infrastructure, responsible for ensuring that systems are secure, scalable, cost-efficient, and reliable across both Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Your role spans the full DevOps lifecycle—from infrastructure and automation to system performance, cloud cost control, and security governance.

You own key capabilities across compute, storage, networking, firewall management, data protection, and observability, that serve as the technical backbone of our cloud ecosystem.

Your Key Responsibilities

Cloud Infrastructure: Compute, Storage, Networking

Manage and optimize compute resources, including virtual machines, containers (Kubernetes, AKS, GKE), and serverless workloads for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
Oversee cloud-native storage solutions, ensuring appropriate use of storage across workloads.
Configure and manage networking components such as VPCs, subnets, routing, load balancers, DNS.

Security, Network & Compliance

Lead security patching efforts, vulnerability remediation, and participate in compliance audits.
Manage SSL/TLS certificates, encryption configurations, and automate certificate lifecycle management.
Own end to end network connectivity and management.
Coordinate and respond to penetration tests and security assessments.
Ensure compliance with MSCI’s internal software development procedures (Service Launch Criteria) and MSCI’s standards around Security Architecture reviews, Data Privacy, Vendor Assessments, etc. as they relate to active or planned initiatives.

Automation, CI/CD & DevOps Practices

Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps.
Automate environment provisioning, configuration, and deployments using IaC tools (e.g., Terraform).
Drive adoption of DevOps best practices across teams, promoting collaboration, repeatability, and faster release cycles.

Monitoring, Logging & Performance Optimization

Own end-to-end observability stack including monitoring, alerting, and logging using tools like Azure Monitor, Google Cloud Operations Suite.
Conduct load testing and capacity planning for critical services.

Cloud Cost & Resource Optimization

Continuously evaluate cloud consumption and implement cost optimization strategies such as autoscaling, resource scheduling, rightsizing, and reserved instances.
Report and forecast cloud spend and proactively identify cost-saving opportunities.

Content Delivery, Availability & DR

Manage and optimize global traffic distribution through Akamai CDN.
Develop, test, and maintain Disaster Recovery (DR) plans and business continuity procedures for critical systems.
Ensure consistent and secure backup and retention strategies across workloads, aligning with RPO/RTO and compliance requirements.

Incident Management & Remediation

Respond in a timely manner to address production incidents impacting the BT Cloud/ Web ecosystems (e.g. service availability incidents, zero-day vulnerabilities).
Manage incident resolution and future mitigation plans.

Collaboration

Work closely with DevOps Engineer peers with the same function as well as the central Cloud Engineering team to share knowledge, best practices and ensure adherence to Firm-wide standards for Cloud/DevOps.
Be the team’s representative stakeholder on Cloud Engineering and IT Security forums with senior stakeholders.

Your Skills And Experience That Will Help You Excel

A University Undergraduate (BA) or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent fields
Proven expertise in Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform—including deep hands-on experience with compute, networking, storage, IAM, and automation.
Strong knowledge of firewall management, network security, and cloud perimeter defence.
Experience implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and deployment automation at scale.
Hands-on experience with Akamai CDN or equivalent enterprise-grade content delivery platforms.
Proficiency with monitoring, logging, and observability frameworks, as well as performance testing and optimization.
Demonstrated success in driving cloud cost management initiatives and delivering measurable savings.
Experience with DR planning, backup strategies, and retention policy enforcement in cloud environments.
Experience with container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes, AKS, and GKE.
Relevant certifications are a plus.
