Job Specifications
Akkodis is seeking a Systems Administrator for a client. Candidate can be located nearby Chicago, IL/ Columbus, OH/ Cleveland, OH/ Pittsburgh, PA/ Boston, MA or Nashville, TN.
Pay Rate: $65 - $75/hr. on w2. (The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.)
Schedule - Mon - Fri (8 am -5 pm CST, hybrid - 25% of travel)
Key Responsibilities:
Application Services Administration
Assist with administration and monitoring of application servers and web platforms, including WebLogic, JBoss, Tomcat, Apache HTTPD Server, Oracle HTTP Server, Oracle APEX, and Oracle Rest Data Services (ORDS).
Perform routine maintenance tasks, including patching, updates, backups, and configuration changes.
Monitor system performance, availability, and resource utilization.
Assist in troubleshooting application and service issues, escalating as needed.
Cloud & On-Prem Support.
Support application services in Azure App Services and related cloud platforms.
Assist with on-premises application server deployments, updates, and monitoring.
Work with senior administrators to implement high availability and backup strategies.
Managed Services & Operations
Participate in SLA-driven, customer-facing managed services.
Assist with incident response and problem resolution for enterprise customers.
Document system configurations, processes, and procedures.
Support operational readiness for new application deployments.
Automation & Continuous Improvement.
Assist with automation and scripting of routine tasks (PowerShell, Bash, or similar).
Support monitoring and alerting for application services.
Contribute to knowledge base and standard operating procedures.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
Communication:
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Adaptability:
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities and technologies.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience
2+ years of experience in IT or system administration.
Basic understanding of application servers and web platforms (examples: WebLogic, JBoss, Tomcat, Apache HTTPD Server, Oracle HTTP Server, Oracle APEX, ORDS).
Familiarity with Azure App Services or other cloud application hosting platforms.
Basic knowledge of networking, authentication, and access control.
Ability to participate in 24×7 on-call rotations.
Willingness to learn, follow processes, and work in a customer-facing managed services environment.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Preferred:
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with scripting or automation (PowerShell, Bash, or Python).
Exposure to monitoring and alerting tools.
Experience supporting enterprise or multi-tenant environments.
Familiarity with DevOps concepts or CI/CD pipelines.
