Senior Data Engineer | Contract | London (Hybrid)

Location: London (Hybrid – 3 days onsite, moving to 4 days in future)

Contract: 9–12 months

Experience: 8+ years

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to design and deliver scalable data integration and analytics solutions on Azure. This is a hands-on role requiring strong expertise in Informatica and Power BI, working within an enterprise data environment.

Role Overview

You will be responsible for building robust data pipelines, optimising lakehouse architectures, and enabling high-quality BI reporting. Experience with financial or trading data is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

Build and maintain data pipelines using Informatica and Azure Databricks (Spark / Delta Lake)

Design and optimise data lake / lakehouse models for performance and scalability

Prepare curated datasets for Power BI and SAP BO consumption

Implement data quality rules, monitoring, and exception handling

Collaborate with business, analytics, and engineering teams to deliver data solutions

Apply DevOps best practices (Git, CI/CD, automated testing)

Support lightweight workflow and operational tools using Power Apps (nice to have)

Must-Have Skills

7+ years of experience in Data Engineering

Strong hands-on experience with Informatica ETL and Power BI

Expertise in Azure Databricks, Spark, Delta Lake, and Azure data services

Strong SQL and Python (or Scala) skills

Experience building data models for Power BI and/or SAP BO

Solid understanding of data quality, metadata, and lineage

Nice to Have

Exposure to financial markets / trading data (trades, pricing, positions, market data)

Power Apps / Power Platform experience

Familiarity with data governance tools and controls
