Job Description
At TOMRA Food, the Systems & Sensors team takes ownership of how all components in our machines work together. In addition, we focus on the quality of inspection by designing cutting-edge vision systems to unlock the ultimate sorting capability, ensure quality, minimise waste and maximise customer value. Together with the other teams in R&D, we are proud to own the complexity and deliver the breakthrough.
Your Mission
As a Systems Engineer, in our office in Leuven, you are the technical linchpin that connects innovative R&D concepts to robust, market-leading machine performance. You will:
Take the technical lead in the end-to-end design, configuration, installation and testing of our roadmap sorting machines.
Innovate vision systems: Actively support the research and development of optical systems and sensor technologies, pushing boundaries of inspection quality.
Drive optimisation: utilise your hands on approach to build test-setups, rigorously collect and analyse data and document findings to drive machine improvements.
Complete technical documentation: Develop and maintain documentation for system architecture, configuration and operational procedures.
Have cross-functional impact: Collaborate across a vast technical landscape including optics, automation, production, supply chain and service. Provide technical guidance and demonstrate leadership.
Qualifications
About You:
Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Physics or a related Science field.
A passion for technology and genuine curiosity about how things work drive you to explore new methods and improve machine performance with a hands-on approach.
Proven ability to take ownership in technical and complex interdisciplinary projects and manage tasks independently.
Experience in one or more of the following areas: automation, vision systems, photonics, optics or spectroscopy.
Familiar with data analysis, programming & modelling tools (e.g., python, MATLAB).
Strong analytical mindset with a methodical approach to problem-solving.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
A team player who thrives in working with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing and quality assurance.
Able to work effectively in an international and culturally diverse working environment.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
