Job Summary
The Digital Media Specialist plays an essential role in the development of digital communications content in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on video production, photography, animation and graphic design.
Duties & Responsibilities
Lead all aspects of major video production including concept planning, story boarding, filming, and post-production finishing, colour correction, audio adjustments, and encoding using Adobe Premier and After Effects (including basic animation).
Lead the creative and conceptual development of major marketing and promotional campaign materials, including animations, infographics, and social and digital advertisements in accordance with Halton’s visual identify guidelines.
Contribute to the strategic development and implementation of digital and social media content and campaigns to help increase engagement and traffic. This includes manage day-to-day activities on corporate social media channels on a variety of platforms (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.).
Work closely with Communications Specialists and Coordinators to develop visual content to support written materials, strategic messaging and plans.
Provide photography and videography support for various programs and events throughout the region when required.
Design, track, monitor and analyze communications and marketing campaigns to ensure tactics are reaching key audiences and performing to reach objectives
Support the development, updates and maintenance of website content, images and overall page design.
Support the development and maintenance of the OneHalton app.
Other duties as assigned.
Essential
Skills & Qualifications
A Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma Specialization in Communications, Digital Communications, Marketing, Television Broadcast Journalism, Film Production, Cinematography, Visual Communications and Design or a related discipline.
A minimum of five years’ experience in digital communications.
Experience in creating compelling and creative visual content that can be applied across multiple channels including social media, web, advertisements, events, and presentations.
Advanced technical experience with all aspects of video production including script development, storyboarding, editing, and post-production.
Proficiency in and experience with Adobe Premiere Pro, AfterEffects and Photoshop or Lightroom.
Self-starter, creative and has the ability to deliver on digital communications activities with limited supervision.
The ability to adapt to changing priorities, and work with various stakeholders and partners with a high degree of professionalism.

Preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of other Adobe Creative Cloud Applications — including InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro, and Dreamweaver.
Knowledge of social media best practices and familiarity with posting platforms (such as Hootsuite), HTML and CSS, SEO, Google Adwords, and Google Analytics and other industry standard analytics.
Knowledge of the Halton community and understanding of government priorities and processes.

Working Employment Conditions
Serve on an on-call/stand-by schedule on a rotational basis, and respond to after-hour callouts to provide website updates, graphic design support, or other duties as required.
Occasional early morning, evening, or weekend videography may be required.
Flexibility in working hours will be required.
Occasional travel within Halton Region is required; incumbents must supply their own transportation.
