Main Purpose of the Role
As a Security Controller, you will be responsible for safeguarding government and SeeByte information while protecting SeeByte’s employees, information, infrastructure and facilities. You will play a critical role in maintaining compliance with UK Government Standard GovS 007, ensuring SeeByte adheres to government frameworks and security standards. In this role, you will administer and continuously enhance SeeByte’s Information Security Management System, fostering a strong security culture across the organisation. This is a hands-on role and will require frequent Edinburgh office attendance, in-person communication and occasional travel to our Bristol office will be expected.
You will provide expert guidance to project teams on security-related matters, ensuring the proper handling of classified information and assets, effective risk management, and adherence to security best practices.
Key Responsibilities of the role:
Implement and maintain robust security policy, processes and data protection measures, ensuring organisational compliance with government standards such as GovS 007, supporting personnel security clearance and vetting, promoting a strong security culture, and contributing to risk management and mitigation initiatives.
Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders to coordinate security activities, specify security requirements, maintain records, deliver security training, promote security awareness, and support organisational security objectives.
Oversee the full lifecycle and security management of classified physical and digital assets, including procurement, inventory control, secure storage, distribution, disposal, policy compliance, auditing, incident response, and liaison with internal and external stakeholders.
Engaging with the UK defence security community, adopting best practice and driving organisational change across the business.
Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications
This role requires a strong background in security management, ideally within a UK defence contractor, the Ministry of Defence (MOD), or other government agencies. You should be confident advising on security matters and ensuring compliance across the organisation. You will be confident having technical conversations with our project teams, to enable security risks to be surfaced and effectively mitigated.
Extensive experience in security management within MOD, defence, or other government environments.
Strong understanding of MOD/ISO security frameworks, policies, and best practices.
Ability to interpret and apply security legislation and compliance requirements in an efficient and effective manner.
Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with teams at all levels.
The ability to rapidly digest new information and technically competent enough to get to grips with a wide array of technically complex projects.
