Role: Accounting Manager

Length: 2 Month Contract (Potential for Permanent)

Location: Mississauga (5 Days on-site)

Rate: $70-80/hour

The Accounting Manager is responsible for providing strong financial leadership and overseeing the organization’s day‑to‑day accounting operations. This role manages the Financial Service Center, ensures accuracy across all financial transactions, and supports strategic financial planning through budgeting, forecasting, and analytical reporting. The position plays a critical role in year-end audit preparation, consolidation activities, and maintaining compliance with CRA regulations and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Strategy

Lead financial strategy by analyzing organizational performance, risks, and improvement opportunities.
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including consolidations, reconciliations, income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support senior leadership with data‑driven insights and KPI reporting.

Operational Accounting Oversight

Oversee the Financial Service Center to ensure accurate and timely processing of A/R, A/P, journal entries, and transactional accounting.
Manage bi‑weekly payroll, benefits administration, and insurance documentation.
Ensure proper month‑end and year‑end close, including preparation for external audits.
Maintain accurate and compliant CRA filings.
Support job costing and project cost analysis for planning and budgeting.
Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and prepare monthly cash forecasts.
Manage banking activities including wire transfers, certificates of deposit, and signing authority updates.

Audit & Compliance

Lead external year‑end audit preparation, ensuring compliance with regulatory and financial reporting requirements.
Finalize consolidation activities with the parent company prior to audit commencement.
Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard all financial assets, systems, and sensitive information.
Identify, assess, and mitigate financial, operational, and legal risks.

Team Leadership

Supervise and support accounting and finance staff within the Shared Service Center for North America.
Provide direction, coaching, and performance management to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and accountability.
Support documentation of financial procedures and process improvements.
Encourage a culture of continuous improvement and alignment with organizational goals.

Qualifications & Experience

8-10+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance management.
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Business
CPA is required
Previous manufacturing experience would be a strong asset
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas, lookups, etc.).
Strong understanding of accounting principles, budgeting, cost control, and financial operations.
Experience with CRA compliance, tax filings, and audit preparation for year-end is preferred
Strong knowledge of ERP systems (MS Dynamics Business Central preferred; experience with any ERP is required)
Excellent troubleshooting, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
Inventory accounting experience is an asset but not required for this role.
