About the role

Engineers form part of the Security Engineering Team (SET), an expanding team delivering IT security services to a client within the aerospace industry. The team operates across two primary sites in Derby, providing security engineering and operational support in varied technical environments. Team members are not fixed to a single location, allowing for diverse and engaging work.

The role focuses on three core areas of security engineering and operations:

Run Activity: Monitoring and maintaining the health of security tooling
Incident Response: Responding to security incidents related to tools within the SET remit
Request Management: Triaging incoming requests via the Engineering Team mailbox and service management queue, ensuring clear ownership and resolution

This is a hybrid role combining office, client site and home working. Home working is not available on a full-time basis.

Key responsibilities

Ensure the integrity and availability of client IT security infrastructure
Operate in line with IT Service Management principles, including on-call and out-of-hours support
Maintain and monitor security toolsets including SIEM, IDPS, GVM and malware protection platforms
Record, investigate and respond to health alerts across managed security infrastructure
Tune policies, features and configurations in response to incidents and client requests
Troubleshoot and assess the impact of security tooling on business applications
