Compensation Range: $70 - $75 / hour W2

Job Description:

Backend-focused role responsible for owning, operating, and improving an existing production service with a strong emphasis on reliability and system ownership.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

Own and operate a live backend production service
Build and maintain integrations with third-party APIs
Operate and troubleshoot event-driven data flows
Debug data sync, attribution, and reliability issues
Make incremental improvements to system stability and performance
Work independently with minimal hand-holding

Requirements:

Must-Haves:

2–3+ years of owning and operating backend production services
Strong proficiency in Java and backend service development
Experience with event-driven systems and third-party API integrations
Proven debugging and troubleshooting skills
Experience working with sensitive data (e.g., billing or payments via internal services)
Comfortable ramping into existing systems and working independently
Experience operating within large, complex product organizations
Strong Slack-based communication skills

Nice-to-Haves:

Background in established tech companies
Experience improving reliability of legacy or mature systems
