Job Specifications

You will contribute to the complete redesign and reimplementation of a high-visibility mobile application used by a broad national audience. The current mobile app, originally launched several years ago, relies on an outdated and no longer supported technology stack.

Your mission is to help rebuild the application from the ground up, delivering a modern, performant, and accessible mobile experience for both Android and iOS, using a single cross-platform codebase. The preferred technology for this reimplementation is React Native. As a Senior Mobile Application Developer, you take ownership of the mobile UI and codebase. You actively participate in architectural decisions, translate designs into high-quality mobile interfaces, and ensure the application performs reliably at scale.

What You’ll Do

You design and develop a cross-platform mobile application using React Native for Android and iOS.
You rebuild the full UI and application logic on top of a modern, maintainable codebase.
You integrate mobile interfaces with backend services through RESTful APIs.
You implement efficient caching strategies to ensure performance and offline resilience.
You translate Figma designs into pixel-perfect, responsive mobile interfaces.
You work with data visualisation and presentation of structured data in a mobile context.
You ensure the application complies with WCAG accessibility guidelines.

What are we looking for?

You have expert-level experience in mobile application development.
You have strong, hands-on experience with React Native in production environments.
You are comfortable integrating mobile apps with RESTful APIs.
You have experience with performance engineering in mobile applications.
You understand and apply caching mechanisms in mobile architectures.
You are experienced with Git for version control.
You can work with Figma designs and collaborate effectively with UX/UI designers.
You have experience with data visualisation and data preparation for mobile apps.
You understand and apply WCAG accessibility standards.
You have an active working knowledge of Dutch and English with a passive understanding of French.

Nice to Have

You have experience working with GIS or geospatial data in a mobile context.
You have previously worked on public-facing or high-traffic mobile applications.
