Sourcing Manager
Contract Duration: Contract through 12/31/2026 (with strong possibility of extension)
Location: Michigan (Jackson office preferred; other Michigan service centre locations also considered)
Work Schedule: Hybrid (On-site: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday | Remote: Wednesday, Friday)
Position Overview:
CMS Energy is seeking a strategic and results-driven Sourcing Manager to negotiate and manage supplier relationships, optimize procurement processes, and deliver cost-effective solutions. This role is critical to ensuring the organization obtains materials and services at the best value while maintaining quality, compliance, and operational efficiency.
The Sourcing Manager will partner with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and Legal counsel to drive strategic sourcing initiatives, improve supplier performance, and support continuous improvement in procurement processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement sourcing strategies to reduce costs, consolidate suppliers, improve quality, and enhance process efficiencies.
Manage non-strategic and strategic procurement requests by evaluating specifications or scopes of work and determining the need for RFIs, RFPs, or RFQs; administer and negotiate agreements with suppliers.
Negotiate contractual terms and conditions with suppliers to minimize risk while aligning with company standards and values (safety, quality, cost, delivery, morale).
Collaborate with Supplier Quality, Strategic Sourcing, and Business Partners to develop suppliers, drive cost reductions, and improve supplier performance.
Support the creation and monitoring of procurement metrics, continuous improvement initiatives, and industry best practices.
Conduct market analysis, portfolio analysis, and benchmarking to identify cost savings opportunities and manage contractual obligations effectively.
Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure timely, high-quality delivery within budget.
Proactively manage contracts through to full execution, ensuring compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and procurement standards.
Provide guidance in developing sourcing processes, metrics, and escalation mechanisms for operational and strategic issues.
Other duties as assigned to support procurement and organizational objectives.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Information Technology, Procurement, or Supply Chain Management.
2–4 years of relevant sourcing/procurement experience.
Strong understanding of the full procurement cycle, including RFQs and RFPs.
Knowledge of business law, commercial terms, contractual negotiations, and supplier management.
Proven ability to influence stakeholders, resolve issues, and deliver excellent customer service.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret drawings, SOWs, and technical requirements.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), SAP, Ariba, PowerBI, and ServiceNow.
Preferred:
Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM).
Experience with Project Management, ITIL, COBIT, or ITSM frameworks.
