HR Director | Solo HR – 3-Month Contract, Extension Possible

Overview
This role supporting a growing, mission-driven organization at a pivitol point. As contract HR Director, you will operate as a solo HR practitioner, responsible for the execution and administration of core HR and people operations during a defined engagement period.
The organization is seeking a senior HR professional who brings sound judgment, strong execution, and professional maturity, and who can operate effectively within a dynamic organizational environment. This role is focused on operational excellence, consistency, and stability.
Role Focus
This role is execution-oriented and hands-on. The HR Director will ensure that foundational HR processes are run effectively, employee relations matters are handled professionally, and leaders and employees receive clear, timely support.
Success in this role comes from practical problem-solving, change management, clear communication, and follow-through, rather than authority-driven decision-making or large-scale transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the organization’s sole HR practitioner, owning day-to-day HR operations end to end
Manage performance management processes and employee relations matters, handling sensitive issues with discretion and confidentiality
Administer and manage Rippling, which has been recently deployed, including payroll, benefits, employee data, performance management, system configuration, and reporting; build out reporting capabilities and support training and adoption across the organization
Partner closely with Finance who processes payroll
Respond to employee questions related to benefits, policies, and life events
Document HR processes, policies, and compliance practices to support consistency and scalability
Prepare written materials and presentations for leadership and staff as needed
Support quarterly reviews, employee engagement touchpoints, and manager training
Ensure smooth execution of leadership's directives
Ideal Profile
Senior HR generalist with experience operating independently or as a department of one
Demonstrated professional judgment, discretion, and emotional maturity
Hands-on experience with HRIS platforms, with Rippling experience strongly preferred, including reporting and end-user training
Highly execution-oriented with excellent follow-through
Comfortable working within established priorities and decision-making structures while supporting teams through change
Strong employee relations experience
Clear written and verbal communicator, including comfort with presentations and training delivery
