Job Specifications
Cloud Engineer | AWS
Location: Hybrid (London, Oxford or Cambridge)
We’re working with an early stage technology company building a production grade data platform for real time systems and analytics at scale. While the business has roots in autonomous systems, the core value sits firmly in the software and cloud platform that turns live data into usable insight.
As the platform matures and customer usage increases, they are strengthening the cloud and platform layer and are now hiring a Cloud Engineer to help operate, scale, and evolve their AWS infrastructure.
This is a hands on role for someone who enjoys working close to real systems, supporting production workloads, and improving how cloud infrastructure is run day to day.
The business is well funded, gaining strong client traction, and building toward a significant scale up phase over the next 12 to 24 months.
What you’ll get
• Hands on ownership of cloud infrastructure in a production environment
• Exposure to a data intensive, real time platform
• The chance to influence how the cloud platform evolves as the company scales
• Close collaboration with backend, platform, and architecture leadership
• A supportive environment with clear technical direction and room to grow
What you’ll be doing
• Operating and improving AWS environments that support live production systems
• Supporting deployment, reliability, and performance of cloud services
• Working with backend and platform engineers to enable data pipelines and services
• Managing infrastructure using infrastructure as code and modern deployment practices
• Helping improve observability, monitoring, and operational tooling
• Supporting scaling, security, and isolation as the platform grows
• Contributing to decisions around cloud structure, environments, and best practices
This is not a pure DevOps or SRE role. It is a practical cloud engineering position, focused on keeping systems reliable, scalable, and well structured.
What we’re looking for
• 5 plus years hands on experience as a Cloud or Platform Engineer (AWS)
• Strong, practical experience operating production systems on AWS
• Good understanding of cloud security, permissions, and environment separation
• Able to work effectively in small, high ownership teams, taking responsibility for systems rather than tickets
• A production first mindset, focused on stability, clarity, and long term maintainability over novelty
Background is flexible. What matters is having supported real systems in production and understanding the trade offs that come with scale.
Nice to haves
Experience working on SaaS or multi customer platforms
Exposure to data heavy or analytics driven platforms, including batch or streaming workloads
