AGR are working closely with our Aberdeen-based client to recruit a Senior Drilling Engineer to join its team on a PAYE basis, for a contract length of 7-8 months working on their 2026 Wells P&A campaign.

About the role:

This role will be responsible for drilling engineering, design and technical integrity aspects of well projects and ensuring the safe and efficient execution of projects.

Key duties and responsibilities:

Provides drilling engineering input to well construction, workover and abandonment projects.
Ensures projects are planned in full compliance with corporate policies, standards, procedures and guidelines and relevant regulatory requirements and are executed safely and efficiently.
Keeps abreast of new and emerging technologies.
Supports well delivery efficiency with benchmarking and performance analysis.
Ensure detailed risk assessments are prepared for planned well operations and risks are managed and mitigated as appropriate.
Preparation of Well Feasibility Notes, Concept Select Reports, and Well Design documents.
Preparation of time & cost estimates for each project phase. Monitors expenditure.
Preparation of Drilling Programmes, Well Notifications and Consents, equipment lists etc.
Provide engineering support to well operations.
Interfaces effectively with other teams e.g. subsurface, projects, supply chain, finance to safely and successfully deliver the project.
Prepares and submits End of Well Reports in a timely manner.
Captures and closes out lessons learnt and analysis of NPT events.
Prepares and evaluates tenders. Acts as Technical Sponsor for certain contracts.
Supports the contractor management process by developing positive relationships with contractors and suppliers. Ensures contractor delivery against KPIs/scorecards.
Makes regular visits offshore to enhance onshore-offshore relationships and communications, participate in rig safety audits, promote and support an Incident-Free Workplace.
Participates in the Wells’ duty rota and provides support to the Incident Management Team (IMT) in the event of a rig-related incident.
Promotes a positive Incident Free Workplace culture by driving HSES and process safety performance and regulatory compliance through adherence to company standards & procedures, including the CMAPP and HSES Policy.
Perform nominated emergency response role/duties and maintain the necessary competencies to perform these duties.
Proactively maintains their technical and interpersonal skills and competencies, ensuring capabilities are up to date and in line with industry/functional best practice and that behaviours are in line with the client's core Values. Understand the skills, competencies and behaviours required for their role.

Work Experience:

Experience in a well engineering/operations role, including jack-up well operations

Technical skills/Qualifications:

Degree in an engineering, technology or science discipline.
Fully certified by a recognised Well Control Authority e.g. Level 4 IWCF, WELLCAP.
Offshore medical, survival and MIST certification.
Delivery focused
Good HSE attitude and behaviours
Positive attitude and behaviours, together with flexibility
Good communicator
Commercial awareness
Capable of working independently and as part of a team
Competent in using COMPASS, WELLPLAN and StressCheck software.

All candidates must have RTW in the UK to be considered for this role.
