Job Specifications

Vice President of UX Design

Role Overview:

We are seeking a transformative Vice President of UX Design to build, mature, and scale a modern design organization at HCHB. This leader will elevate customer experience, develop a strong pipeline of UX managers and directors, and drive design excellence across a complex product ecosystem.

A defining responsibility for this role is integrating AI-driven experience capabilities at scale—including workflow intelligence, predictive guidance, design tooling automation, and cross-platform consistency—while ensuring ethical, responsible use of AI in healthcare contexts.

This VP will bring modern UX practice, leadership development, design system scale, and AI-driven experience design together into a single strategic vision.

Key Responsibilities:

Organizational & Cultural Transformation

Build a modern UX organization from a low-maturity foundation into a strategic, user-centered practice.
Raise UX literacy across Product and Engineering with a focus on the value and potential of AI-enhanced experiences.
Shift teams toward outcome-driven, customer-centric thinking supported by research and AI insights.
Create a long-term experience vision that incorporates modernization, design system unification, and intelligent workflows.

Leadership Development & Team Growth

Develop directors, managers, and high-potential ICs into strategic design leaders with strong AI and systems-thinking capabilities.
Build a robust talent strategy including leadership competencies, leveling frameworks, and mentorship.
Equip leaders to run autonomous, high-performing teams with deep understanding of AI-augmented design workflows.
Grow a sustainable leadership pipeline capable of scaling UX impact across a complex product ecosystem.

Foundational Capability Building & Research Integration

Mature UX processes across discovery, research, accessibility, design reviews, and workflow mapping.
Establish Design Ops to support scalable processes, AI-enabled design tools, documentation, and cross-functional predictability.
Establish an ongoing research program that incorporates qualitative insights, behavioral analytics, and AI-generated signals.
Ensure research and AI-derived insights inform roadmap prioritization and modernization strategy.

Design System Ownership & Multi-Platform Scaling

Lead the creation and governance of a unified design system scaled across web, mobile, and emerging product surfaces.
Ensure design system components support AI-driven interactions, adaptive interfaces, and context-aware workflows.
Partner with Engineering to align system tokens and components with code, including AI-powered behaviors or micro-interactions.
Build adoption, tooling, governance, and release cycles that enable system growth alongside product modernization.

AI-Enhanced Experience Strategy & Cross-Functional Execution

Define HCHB’s UX vision for AI-assisted, predictive, and automated user experiences.
Identify where AI can reduce clinician cognitive burden, shorten workflows, or automate repetitive tasks.
Introduce AI-driven UX patterns into the design system while ensuring ethical, explainable, auditable, and health-compliant guidelines.
Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Data Science to embed AI into core user experiences—not as bolt-on features.
Shape cross-functional alignment around responsible AI design principles, transparency, and user trust.

Qualifications:

Required

12+ years in high level UX or Product Design positions, including leadership in low-maturity or transforming organizations.
Proven ability to grow managers, directors, and senior ICs into strategic leaders.
Strong experience building and scaling multi-platform design systems in enterprise applications.
Direct experience designing AI-enabled experiences and responsibly integrating AI into complex products.
Skilled in modern UX research, data-driven design, accessibility, workflow optimization, and design strategy.
Strong cross-functional leadership with Product, Engineering, and Data Science.

Preferred

Experience in healthcare, enterprise SaaS, or regulated industries.
Experience with generative AI, LLM-powered features, predictive UX, and intelligent workflow design.
Familiarity with responsible AI frameworks, transparency principles, and audit trails.
Advanced degree in HCI, Design, Behavioral Science, Organizational Leadership, or related fields.
