Job Specifications

Venesky-Brown's client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit an IT Manager for an initial 6 month contract with option to extend on a rate of £550/day (Inside of IR35).

Responsibilities:

- Provide temporary IT representation at project/change meetings (such as Office Restack, Replacement of Print Server, Dynamic Forms etc.
- Work closely with the Head of IT Service Management to:
- Support development of plan, and establishment of, dedicated IT Service & Security governance/review meetings with the client's IT Supplier base (IT Focus)
- Lead creation of a dedicated IT Incident Management process and RACI (which dovetails into the broader Incident Management Policy)
- Lead creation of an IT Problem Management process and RACI
- Lead creation of an IT Change Management process and RACI
- Lead creation of a monthly IT Service performance report (including for use at key governance committees)
- Collate all pre-existing enterprise and IT related architecture diagrams/assets and identify gaps/further work required
- Understand IT cost drivers and seek out potential cost efficiencies
- Commence development of IT Service Models for key services
- Support ongoing creation and regular upkeep of IT Risk and Control Register
- Support creation of IT Strategy and IT Operating Model and Resource Profile/Structure
- Support delivery of actions required to support closure of open IT related risk and audit actions
- To attend meetings as delegate for the Head of IT Service Management as/when required

Essential Skills:

- ITIL Foundation qualified (either V3 or V4)
- Involvement in the establishment or maturity of IT processes of ITIL aligned medium sized (or large) enterprises
- Exposure to and experience of the operation of IT Major Incident Management, IT Problem Management and IT Change Management processes
- Involvement in setting and/or refining IT Strategy and Operating Models
- Involvement with/familiarity with budget/cost control and management
- Aware of IT Risk and Control management fundamentals
- Involvement in the establishment/creation and/or ongoing upkeep of IT Service Models
- Experience of production of quality, accurate reporting such as Monthly IT Service Reporting
- Experienced in providing IT input/representation/task ownership and delivery for Projects and Programmes
- A confident and clear communicator with high quality verbal and written communication skills
- Calm and courteous demeanour when faced with difficult/challenging circumstances
- Able to plan and deliver assigned responsibilities to quality and time without close ongoing support/supervision
- Able to thrive in situations where information is only partially available and requires to be gathered by discussion with other stakeholders
- Inquisitive, self-motivated, resilient and results-driven

Desirable Skills:

- ITIL V3 Expert Level or ITIL V4 Managing Professional qualified
- Has led on the creation and embedding of IT processes, including familiarity with the approach required to create, socialise and gain approvals prior to launch/embedding
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Prior experience of establishing or significantly maturing an IT function
- Prior direct involvement with the establishment/shaping of IT Target Operating Models
- Self-starter requiring little day-to-day direction/guidance
