About The Role
Our client, a leading Fortune 50 U.S. retailer recognized globally for its innovation, scale, and guest-centric culture, is expanding its Cyber Fusion capabilities. We are seeking a Network Security Engineer to support the development, reliability, and optimization of enterprise-wide network visibility and security telemetry.

You will collaborate closely with network engineering teams and cybersecurity stakeholders to ensure visibility requirements are met and continuously improved. Responsibilities
Evaluate the current configuration management and orchestration environment, identifying gaps, risks, and opportunities for modernization.
Architect and implement a scalable, secure, and resilient visibility and telemetry solution from design through deployment.
Lead end-to-end delivery of complex NSM engineering workstreams with minimal direction.
Improve reliability, performance, and coverage across multiple sensor and visibility components, contributing to standards, patterns, and best practices.
Collaborate with Network Engineering and Cybersecurity teams to drive solutions and clearly communicate technical tradeoffs.
Diagnose technical issues across the system, application, and network layers.
Communicate engineering solutions through high-quality documentation, diagrams, and knowledge sharing.
Required Qualifications
5+ years working in network engineering or network visibility architecture/design
Strong experience administering Linux systems (RHEL/CentOS, Ubuntu, or equivalent)
Proven experience designing and operating configuration management/orchestration tools (e.g., Ansible, Salt, Puppet, Chef, Terraform)
Demonstrated ability to analyze and optimize system capacity, performance, and operational health
Ability to troubleshoot across system, application, and network layers
Experience in production environments with disciplined operational/change control
Solid understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols, VLANs, NAT, DNS, DHCP, and firewall concepts
Scripting experience (Python, Bash, or similar) for automation and tooling
Ability to document and communicate engineering solutions through high- and low-level diagrams
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience tuning/optimizing tools such as Security Onion, Zeek, Suricata, Snort
Experience developing monitoring or testing frameworks
Proficiency with observability platforms such as Kibana, Splunk, or Graylog
Experience with Linux, Docker, and Git
Hands-on experience with packet analysis tools (Wireshark, tcpdump, etc.)
