About the Role

Blueprint UK is a London-based design and structural consultancy supporting residential and small commercial development projects across the UK.

We are expanding our planning and concept design capabilities and are looking for a Planning Consultant/Architect to support early-stage project design, planning submissions, and development feasibility work.

This role focuses primarily on residential extensions, remodels, and planning-led projects, working closely with structural engineers and clients from concept through planning application.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare planning drawings and concept designs for residential projects
Develop site layouts, extension concepts, and feasibility studies
Advice on planning strategy and permitted development vs full planning
Prepare planning application drawing packages
Coordinate with structural engineers on design feasibility
Support the preparation of planning application documents
Communicate with clients and planning authorities when required

Requirements

Experience in preparing planning drawings for UK residential projects
Strong understanding of the UK planning system
Ability to produce clear concept layouts and planning drawings
Experience working with architectural drawing software (AutoCAD / Revit / similar)
Ability to work independently on project-based work

Bonus Skills

Interior design capability
3D visualisation (SketchUp, Lumion, Enscape, etc.)
Revit modelling
Experience with loft conversions and extension planning packages
Experience in preparing planning statements or designing access statements

Compensation

Compensation structure will depend on experience and project involvement.

Options may include:

Project-based fees per planning package
Monthly retainer for ongoing support
Freelance contract arrangements
