Description
The Student Applications Support role focuses on providing an additional point of contact for end users and the IT Apps team to receive support for the organization’s Oracle Apex application environment. This includes troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving issues related to the Oracle Apex application and ensuring optimal performance. The individual will also assist with problem areas (in person, via remote tools, by telephone, or through chat) in a timely and accurate manner, providing end-users assistance as required.
Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning
Support a variety of application-related issues at the primary office and remote sites
Acquisition & Deployment
Conduct research on application support tools and technologies to assist with standardization and procurement efforts
Evaluate and recommend application-related tools or upgrades for purchase
Write technical specifications for the procurement of application support tools and related products
Operations
Perform analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex Oracle Apex application issues for end users, and recommend and implement corrective solutions
Accurately document instances of application issues, resolutions, and any configuration changes
Record and manage updates or patches applied to the Oracle Apex application
Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot the Oracle Apex application and its related components to ensure required service levels are met
Assess the need for and implement performance upgrades to the Oracle Apex application based on technical specifications
Collaborate with network administrators and other IT teams to ensure efficient operation of the Oracle Apex application environment
Administer and resolve issues related to the Oracle Apex application and its integration with other software or systems
Respond to incoming calls, service desk tickets, emails, or chat inquiries regarding Oracle Apex-related incidents
Document and manage application configuration changes or updates as requested by the business
Prepare tests and reports to monitor the performance of the Oracle Apex application and provide performance statistics
Maintain an inventory of application-related tools, configurations, and documentation as needed
Liaise with third-party vendors for support or troubleshooting of Oracle Apex-related issues
Provide on-call support if required
Position Requirements
Working towards a college diploma or university degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field
Knowledge of basic navigation, including configuration, troubleshooting, and integration for web-based apps
Familiarity with application support tools and techniques
Hands-on troubleshooting experience with applications (personal or work)
Ability to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and user guides
Familiarity with foundational web technologies: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and team-oriented
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Preferred Qualifications
Strong understanding of Oracle SQL and PL/SQL concepts
Working technical knowledge of application protocols, standards, and database integration
Familiarity with Oracle Apex application or similar platforms
