Overview

We are seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Enterprise Architect to support mission-critical architecture initiatives within a large, complex public-sector environment.

This role operates with high executive visibility and statewide impact, driving architecture decisions that directly influence cybersecurity posture, operational resilience, and incident response readiness across multiple organizations.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience across enterprise architecture, cybersecurity platforms, hybrid infrastructure, and architecture governance, along with the ability to operate at both strategic and hands-on technical levels.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise & Security Architecture

Design and maintain enterprise-level architecture across hybrid IT environments (on-prem and cloud)
Develop architecture strategies to strengthen cybersecurity, resilience, and operational continuity
Define integration patterns across heterogeneous IT, OT, and security systems
Ensure alignment with industry standards and regulatory frameworks

Cybersecurity Platform & Detection Architecture

Architect solutions across:
Security telemetry pipelines
SIEM and log management platforms
Network visibility and threat detection technologies
Support architecture decisions impacting detection coverage, evidentiary integrity, and incident response effectiveness

Architecture Governance & Decision Authority

Establish and lead architecture governance processes and review boards
Produce and maintain architecture decision records, standards, and technical documentation
Evaluate architectural risks and develop mitigation strategies
Resolve cross-organizational technical conflicts and prevent architectural debt

Hybrid Infrastructure & Cloud Strategy

Design architecture across hybrid cloud, virtualization, and enterprise infrastructure platforms
Ensure secure integration across multiple environments and agencies

Procurement & Vendor Evaluation

Support major technology procurements by:
Defining technical requirements
Evaluating vendor solutions
Assessing architectural risks and long-term sustainability

Executive & Stakeholder Engagement

Provide executive-level technical briefings and recommendations
Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and operational teams
Support time-sensitive decision-making in high-impact environments

Minimum Qualifications

15+ years of Enterprise Architecture experience in large, complex environments
12+ years of IT infrastructure architecture (on-prem and hybrid)
10+ years of enterprise cybersecurity architecture (defensive security focus)
10+ years producing technical design documentation and architecture decision artifacts
8+ years leading architecture governance or review boards

Preferred Qualifications

20+ years of enterprise and security architecture experience
Experience designing security telemetry and SIEM architectures
Experience with network visibility and detection architectures
Experience with hybrid cloud and virtualization platforms
Strong knowledge of NIST-aligned risk management and security frameworks
Proven experience delivering executive-level technical briefings

Work Environment

Hybrid role with onsite presence required in Austin or San Antonio based on mission needs
Standard business hours (CST); occasional after-hours support may be required
Travel must be pre-approved and aligned with state guidelines
