Job Summary:
The Research Analyst supports the planning, evaluation, and implementation of state programs and initiatives through rigorous research, data analysis, and reporting. This role involves collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, preparing detailed reports and policy briefs, and presenting findings to leadership to inform decision-making and program improvements. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and skilled in translating complex data into actionable insights.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct qualitative and quantitative research to evaluate program effectiveness and support policy development.
Collect, clean, and analyze data from multiple sources to identify trends, insights, and areas for improvement.
Prepare comprehensive research reports, policy briefs, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
Develop and maintain research databases, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and accessibility.
Collaborate with program managers, leadership, and external partners to design research methodologies and evaluation frameworks.
Present research findings to leadership and stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.
Support the development of performance metrics, key indicators, and monitoring tools for state programs.
Stay current on industry trends, research methodologies, and statistical techniques relevant to program evaluation.
Assist with grant applications, policy analysis, and other research-related initiatives as needed.
Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and ethical research standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Economics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field.
Strong analytical, research, and data interpretation skills.
Experience preparing research reports, policy briefs, and presentations.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint, for data analysis and reporting.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience conducting research or program evaluation in government or public sector environments.
Proficiency with statistical and data analysis software such as R, SPSS, SAS, or Python.
Knowledge of program evaluation methodologies and policy analysis techniques.
Familiarity with data visualization tools and dashboards (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
Experience managing research databases and ensuring data quality.
