Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Security Engineer to join a collaborative and adaptable security team. This role focuses heavily on security engineering rather than traditional network engineering, with a strong emphasis on cloud security, secure access technologies, and security program maturity.

The team currently consists of a Senior Security Engineer (Application Security, Incident Response, Threat Security), an Identity and Access Management Engineer, and a Junior Security Engineer focused on Vulnerability Management. The group works closely together and maintains a balanced, supportive work environment with strong work-life balance and minimal after-hours demands.

This position requires a flexible professional who can adapt to shifting priorities, contribute to ongoing security initiatives, and take ownership of identifying and closing security gaps across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and complete ongoing implementations and enhancements related to Zscaler secure access technologies.
Design, implement, and maintain security controls across cloud and network environments, particularly within Microsoft Azure.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including senior leadership, IT teams, and non-technical stakeholders to support security initiatives.
Produce and maintain clear technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures.
Identify security gaps within existing programs and proactively recommend improvements or new solutions.
Participate in security engineering projects that may shift based on emerging threats or organizational priorities.
Work closely with other security team members across application security, identity management, and vulnerability management domains.

Required Qualifications

5–8 years of overall IT experience.
3–5 years of experience specifically in Security Engineering.
At least 2+ years of hands-on experience with Zscaler security solutions.
Experience working with Palo Alto security technologies.
Strong Azure security experience with demonstrated knowledge of cloud security architecture and controls.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams, including senior management.
Strong technical documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Privileged Access Management (PAM) solutions, particularly with Okta.
Experience working in AS400 environments.
Exposure to or experience with Application Security practices.
