Role Description

We are seeking an AI Project Manager to lead the identification, prioritisation, and delivery of enterprise AI initiatives while strengthening governance and supporting the organisation’s overall AI maturity.

Reporting to the CIO and operating within the IT function, this role will work closely with central teams, regional leaders, and technology specialists to identify valuable AI opportunities, coordinate delivery of AI solutions, and ensure responsible and effective adoption across the organisation.

The role will also support the development of AI literacy, data readiness, and responsible AI practices, helping teams understand how AI can be safely and effectively applied to improve operational efficiency and decision-making. While the focus is on enterprise initiatives, the role will also provide support and guidance to schools and regional teams where appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

AI Use Case Discovery & Portfolio Prioritisation

Proactively identify and source AI opportunities across central teams and regional operations.
Work with stakeholders to define business problems, assess value and feasibility, and shape AI use cases.
Build and maintain a pipeline of AI initiatives, ensuring opportunities are clearly defined and aligned with organisational priorities.
Facilitate structured intake and triage of AI requests from across the organisation.
Coordinate prioritisation of AI initiatives based on value, impact, feasibility, governance requirements, and available resources.
Support the development and maintenance of an AI delivery roadmap and portfolio.

AI Project Delivery & Execution

Lead end-to-end delivery of AI initiatives from exploration and design through to deployment, adoption, and continuous improvement.
Coordinate delivery across IT, data, and AI engineering teams to ensure projects progress effectively through development and deployment phases.
Support agile delivery approaches including iterative development cycles, retrospectives, and solution improvements.
Ensure AI solutions are production-ready, scalable, well-documented, and embedded into operational workflows.
Coordinate sequencing and delivery of multiple AI initiatives across the portfolio.
Support adoption and change management to ensure teams understand how AI solutions integrate into their workflows.
Facilitate knowledge sharing so successful prototypes, patterns, and solutions can be scaled across the organisation.
Provide support and guidance to schools and regional teams implementing approved AI solutions where required.

AI Governance, Regulation, Risk & Compliance

Manage and facilitate governance processes required for AI delivery, including AI Impact Assessments (AIIA) and Data Privacy Impact Assessments (DPIA).
Ensure AI initiatives comply with organisational policies on data protection, safeguarding, privacy, and responsible AI usage.
Identify regulatory, operational, and ethical risks early in the lifecycle of AI initiatives and coordinate mitigation strategies.
Work closely with Legal, Security, Compliance, and Safeguarding teams to ensure AI initiatives meet global and regional requirements.
Maintain awareness of evolving global AI regulations and ensure processes and tools remain aligned with best practice.

AI Enablement, Literacy & Data Readiness

Support the development of AI literacy across teams, helping staff understand AI capabilities, risks, and responsible use.
Promote best practices for AI adoption including safe experimentation, responsible prompting, and appropriate use of AI tools.
Work with data and IT teams to assess and improve data readiness required for AI solutions, including data quality, access, and governance considerations.
Identify organisational gaps in data infrastructure, data availability, or governance that may impact AI initiatives.
Contribute to internal guidance, frameworks, and resources that help teams adopt AI technologies safely and effectively.

Bridging Business & Technology

Act as a key liaison between business teams and IT’s AI and technology specialists.
Translate business requirements into structured technical deliverables and delivery plans.
Communicate AI opportunities, risks, timelines, and expected outcomes clearly to senior stakeholders, including executive leadership.
Help stakeholders develop realistic expectations of AI capabilities and limitations.
Ensure alignment between business priorities, technical feasibility, and governance requirements.
