About The Role

We are looking for a Data Engineer for a short but impactful project at a Flemish government environmental agency. The role contributes to building a printable digital document solution (Factsheets) on an Azure-based data platform. The project has a strict June 2026 deadline in preparation for a public consultation process.

What You'll Do

Develop data solutions meeting functional analysis requirements on Azure
Ensure quality of delivered solutions with colleagues and end users
Work within an Agile environment following organizational standards and best practices

What We're Looking For

5+ years as Data Engineer
3+ years Azure Data Factory experience
3+ years Databricks experience
Python, Java or Scala for ETL and data streams
Database experience; ETL process design and implementation
Dutch: C2 native level (required)

Nice to Have

Azure certifications
Government sector experience

Practical Details

Location: Aalst, Belgium
Work model: Hybrid (min. 1 day/week on-site)
Contract: Freelance
Duration: ~3 months (~400 hours)
Start date: April 2026
