Job Title: Cybersecurity Engineer
Location (city, state): Woodlands, TX
Compensation: $50-55/hr
Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
Job Description:
A growing enterprise organization is seeking a Cybersecurity professional to support and strengthen its security program. This role will identify cybersecurity risks, support triage and incident response, help improve data governance, and develop technical solutions to reduce vulnerabilities across the business. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced security engineer/analyst who enjoys hands-on work across governance, engineering, data, and infrastructure security.
Required Tech/Experience (Manager won’t consider candidates without the following):
7+ years of Information Technology security experience (medium–large enterprise preferred)
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
Strong understanding of network security principles, routing/switching, TCP/IP, VLANs, ACLs
Proficiency with security tools: vulnerability management, EDR, SIEM/SOC platforms, secure email gateways, web filtering, SSL decryption, next‑gen firewalls
Working knowledge of IT networking, Windows, and VMware environments
Experience with data governance, incident triage, and security exception handling
Ability to author policies, standards, procedures, and runbooks
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and independent decision‑making skills
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced, changing environment
Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical issues clearly
Preferred Tech/Experience (Not required, but moves the candidate to the top of the list):
Cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or CISM
Experience mentoring or supervising security or engineering staff
Prior experience evaluating or implementing AI‑driven security automation
Background supporting sprint planning, user story creation, and test case development
Experience working cross‑functionally with engineering, infrastructure, and security teams
