Position: Maths Functional Skills Tutor for Adult Learners
Location: Weston College: 3 campuses in Bristol (BS11XH), Avonmouth (BS119DQ) and Weston-super-Mare (BS23 2AL). Access to a car is preferable.
Hours: 0-10 hours per week, within normal working hours Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm. Role may have some weekly sessions and would also be on a cover basis for regular tutors who may be absent or unwell. The programme runs from March to September 2025 (6 month duration).
Start Date: Next training is held in April. Programme starts end of March so successful candidates would begin onboarding once interview attended during March.

About the Role
As a Maths Functional Skills Tutor, you will play a vital role in supporting young adult learners at Weston College on a cover basis. Your focus will be on delivering engaging, small-group sessions (1-3 learners) in Functional Skills Maths, helping students build confidence and achieve their qualifications. This role involves weekly sessions and some cover opportunities for current tutor absences or illnesses. You must be based within the Bristol/Weston-super-Mare location for the duration of the programme (March - September 2025).
This is an excellent opportunity for those who are passionate about education and want to gain valuable experience working with students, using a fully resourced curriculum designed by expert teachers.
The successful candidate must, by the start of the employment, have permission to work in the UK.

Core Requirements
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of young adults.
Minimum C grade in GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).
A-level/equivalent qualification at grade B or above in a relevant subject.
Either a minimum of a 2:2 undergraduate/postgraduate degree or currently working towards one.
Additional Requirements
Availability to attend training sessions and commit to flexible tutoring hours.
Ability to commit to at least 2 hours of tuition per week for a minimum of 15 weeks (a 3-month notice period is required if no longer available for tuition).
Ability to travel to Weston College, BS23 2AL, for in-person sessions.
Employment subject to DBS check, Right to Work check, social media check, and two suitable references.
A police check or police letter of good conduct may be required for applicants who have lived overseas for more than 3 months in the last 5 years.
