We're looking for a University Placement Student Software Engineer for a 12-month industrial placement within our company, due to start their placement this summer. You will be working for a highly renowned organisation that is part of a multi-national group of companies and promotes a creative and dynamic work environment. Our organisation produces market leading, large-scale, distribution and supply chain software products used by customers worldwide and is undergoing substantial growth, including at the graduate level.

Job Description

You will join one of our skilled teams working within a demanding and growing environment. This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience within a sector-leading and multi-award-winning organisation.

Responsibilities

You will work within one of our cross-functional agile development teams and report to a team leader. A typical day in a development team involves:

Writing front end and backend code and working with APIs and databases
Using Azure DevOps for software development lifecycle - Collaborating with co-located and remote team members
Opportunities to pair program and code review other team members work
Liaising with stakeholders and refining user stories

Business line: Warehouse Management System (WMS)

Autostore WMS handles a combination of manual, semi-automated and fully automated warehouse configurations. The objective of a WMS is to give users the tools to control and manage storage of pallets within racking as well as inbound and outbound operations and the control of handling equipment such as fork-lift trucks.

Key technologies

Development coding using C, C++, C# and Jaspersoft for user reports - Oracle Database
Dual running on both Windows and Linux OS

Qualifications

You will hold a good set of A levels, or equivalent, and be currently studying a BSc Honours Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent.
